My Journey
My Journey
My journey into art began unexpectedly, at a time when I was going through a difficult and uncertain phase in my life.
A little over two years ago, before I shifted to my new home, I was feeling overwhelmed and unsure about what I should do to feel better and create a more positive environment around me. One day, while casually scrolling through my phone, I came across some beautiful paintings and artwork. Something about them caught my attention, and I thought, “Why not give it a try?”
That simple thought became the beginning of my creative journey.
I started with mandala art and simple drawings. Slowly, I began enjoying the process. I experimented with different designs and then started exploring different forms of art and painting. That was when I discovered 3D and texture art.
From a Technical Background to 3D Art
My educational background has always been quite different from the world of art. I come from a technical background, with a B.Tech and an MBA, and I had never formally studied art.
As I explored different forms of art, I found myself particularly drawn towards 3D art. Perhaps it was because 3D art brought together creativity with something I have always enjoyed — visualising, understanding structure and paying attention to details.
What fascinated me about 3D art was the process of taking a simple picture or an idea and transforming it into something that feels almost real. Using texture paste, sculpting materials, palette knives and different tools, you can build layers, create depth and dimension, and bring a flat surface to life.
For me, creating 3D art is not simply about applying texture to a surface. It involves visualising the final artwork, understanding shapes and proportions, thinking about depth and perspective, and patiently building the piece layer by layer.
I feel my technical background naturally helped me connect with this process. The qualities that are useful in a technical field — observation, precision, spatial thinking, patience and problem-solving — also became valuable when I started creating 3D art.
I had no formal knowledge of art, no specialised tools and no background in this field. I didn't even have anyone around me who was connected to art.
I simply watched, observed and learned.
Then came the time when I shifted to my new home. During the construction and furnishing process, I had access to some leftover wooden pieces and MDF boards. Instead of letting them go to waste, I decided to use them as my canvas. I bought a few colours and started experimenting.
And that's how my journey with 3D and texture art truly began.
I started with small pieces, trying different ideas and learning through every attempt. I even experimented on stone. I made mistakes, tried again, learned new techniques and gradually became more confident.
One of the biggest things I discovered during this journey was that you don't always need expensive materials or a perfect setup to start something you love. Sometimes, all you need is curiosity, a little courage and the willingness to begin with whatever you have.
Art as a Form of Meditation
For me, art gradually became more than just creating paintings.
It became a way of slowing down, focusing and spending time with myself.
We often think of meditation as sitting quietly and concentrating on our breath or thoughts. But I believe that meditation can look different for everyone. Anything that allows us to become deeply focused, feel peaceful and disconnect from the noise around us can become a form of meditation.
For someone who loves art, creating can be exactly that.
When I work on a painting, I become completely involved in the process. The outside distractions seem to fade away, and I can simply focus on what I am creating. That feeling of concentration, creativity and satisfaction has become an important part of my journey.
If you have ever wanted to try art, you don't necessarily have to consider yourself an artist. If creating something makes you feel good, relaxed or happy, it may become your own form of meditation too.
Learning, Exploring and Growing
When I first started, there were days when I didn't feel like creating anything. I would sometimes wonder whether I could actually do it or whether I was capable of creating something that I would be proud of.
But something changed with time.
Every time I completed a painting, I found myself wanting to try something new. I would think about what I could change, what technique I could experiment with, or how I could make the next piece a little different.
Slowly, I began discovering my own interests and understanding what kind of art I truly enjoy creating.
I am still learning. Every piece teaches me something new, and every new challenge gives me an opportunity to improve. I don't believe that a creative journey ever really ends — it keeps evolving as we do.
Sculpted Tales is a reflection of that journey.
It is not just about paintings or artwork. It is about discovering creativity, trying something new, finding joy in the process and understanding yourself a little better along the way.
My journey started with a simple scroll on my phone, a little curiosity and the thought, “Let's try.”
And today, I continue to learn, experiment, create and grow — one artwork at a time.
